CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Stupid Cancer is proud to announce the call for abstracts for CancerCon 2018 to be held April 19-22, 2018. This call for abstract ends September 18, 2017. If your abstract is selected for inclusion in the conference, you will be informed in early October. Those selected to present will receive a complimentary registration for the conference.

BACKGROUND

The largest event of its kind, CancerCon offers attendees an experience to get educated, empowered and connected to a network of age-appropriate support programs and services, and a global community of peers their own age who are just as pissed and scared as them. Join young adults (patients, survivors, caregivers, family, friends, non-profit professionals, and activists) in Denver next April for three life-changing days of plenaries, workshops, breakout sessions, and social activities.


GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

CancerCon is looking for professional speakers to conduct interactive and age-appropriate workshops tailored to the underserved needs of our community. 

Abstract submissions should be targeted to the needs of our audience categories.


Audience: 

·      Young Adult Patients/Survivors 

·      Long-Term Pediatric Survivors (diagnosed under 14) 

·      Caregivers 

·      Non-Profit Professionals 

·      Health Professionals 


Patients/Survivor Primary/Secondary Audience:* 

·     Recently diagnosed

·     In-treatment

·     Post treatment 1-4 years

·     Post treatment 5+ years

·     Chronic, Metastatic, and/or Advanced 


*Young Adult Patients/Survivors Primary and Secondary Audience is based on stage of survivorship. 

**Priority will be given to submissions that focus on one or two specific audience groups.


Previous topics have included: Cancer & The Environment, Clinical Trials 101, Genomics & Personalized Medicine, PTSD, Alternative Medicine, Nutrition, Meditation, Survivor Guilt, Pain Management, Caregiver Support, Living With Chronic/Advanced/ Disease, Digital Health & ePatients and more.


All presentations are either 60 minutes or 90 minutes in length, and the format and length of your presentation will be prescribed by Stupid Cancer.


Abstracts will be reviewed by a speaker committee comprised of Stupid Cancer staff, industry professionals and members of our stakeholder audience for quality and content. By agreeing to present at CancerCon 2018, the presenter and/or author agrees to give permission to Stupid Cancer to reproduce, advertise and distribute the presentation on the CancerCon and/or Stupid Cancer websites, to conference attendees and on affiliated sites at the discretion of Stupid Cancer and/or CancerCon’s executive boards and program committees. The author will maintain copyrights to the presentation, however, the author will give permission to Stupid Cancer for distribution of the presentation to any non-profit generating venue. Presentations selected may be given to attendees in an electronic format will be presented on a CD, thumb drive or posted on a website.
